Why do our pets need Yearly Screening?
Because our pets can't speak to us directly, they cannot tell us if they feel a little off or unwell or that they have any other indicators of internal illness. Many pets will actively mask signs of illness until late in the course of disease, so it is important to examine them at least every 12 months as well as run some routine screening tests to detect underlying disease BEFORE it is clinically apparent. As an example, it is normal for 40 to 70% of the Kidney function to be compromised before any clinical signs show up that we can see with our eye unless we do blood screening to find it.
Use the age chart below to find your pets age in "people" years and the screening testing recommended for each stage of his or her life. We believe the following tests give us the best chance of helping your pet's live longer, healthier, and happier lives.
These are approximations and may vary by gender, species and breed.
Lilac Every 12 months - As part of your pet's Annual Physical Wellness Examination, we will be performing a check for heartworms (both dogs and cats), a fecal check for intestinal parasites, giving whatever vaccinations are needed, dispensing heartworm and flea preventatives, and discussing nutrition along with any questions you may have.
In addition to this, certain additional tests may be added either based on your pet's "true age" - see chart below - or individual needs depending on presenting signs.
